3D digitization project of the Fatherland monument recorded in Bac Ninh

3D scanning project of large-sized product samples

The National Monument of Merit project in Bac Ninh is one of the 3D digitization projects on large-sized scanned samples. Previously, we had scanned the giant Amitabha Statue on Fansipan peak. So with available experience and a team of professional technicians, it only takes us two days to complete the job.
Scantech Vietnam was selected to carry out the project as an independent 3D Inspection unit by 3D digitization, providing measurement standards to ensure accuracy according to International standards (VDI/ VDE) in calculating area, volume, volume, weight… thereby being able to provide customers with the most detailed parameters about the monument.
Below is a picture of the entire 3D digitization process for the project within 2 days:

Phase 1: Directly scan the National Monument to record attribution.

Front of the Monument
Behind of the Monument
Scantech technicians were lifted by crane to a high position to directly access the monument

In the cold winter weather of December, we disregarded the harsh climate and put project progress first. Scantech technicians worked hard from a height of 50m, constantly moving. transferred by crane head to perform monument scanning.

3D scanning equipment we selected to carry out the project:

Scanner: Artec Eva – Euro

Specifications:

  • Manufacturer Artec 3D/ Luxembourg. Achieved European measurement certifications and prestigious organizations around the world
  • The handheld 3D scanner with structured light technology allows samples to be scanned without the need for identification markers, giving the machine the flexibility to scan large/very large samples quickly and easily.
  • Weighing only 0.9kg, it is easy to manipulate and scan large samples for long periods of time.

Stage 2: Processing after scanning

After finishing two days of scanning the monument in Bac Ninh, the Scantech team moved back to Hanoi to continue the project.

Talking with Mr. Nguyen Van Sang, a technician directly participating in the statue scanning project, about the process after scanning, he shared:

” After using Artec Eva to carry out the project, we process the scanned files (patch missing areas, delete redundant or incorrect scans), then combine the processed files. together to form the main faces of the statue. Next, we combine the main faces of the left, right, front and back of the statue to form a complete statue file. The final step is to calculate the area of the statue’s surface.”

It can be said that the stage after scanning requires a lot of meticulousness and care. Therefore, Scantech’s technical team spent time to elaborate and then provide the most accurate calculation data for the project unit.

We are confident that we have good experience and skills to carry out large-sized 3D digitization projects like the above.
